Upgrade your Commissioned flute or add accents to one of our already crafted flutes. Most of my customers who buy a flute from our shop would prefer something a little more unique than just a nice flute. For some just adding a small leather accent is enough while others request something more individualized that holds a special meaning to them.
Custom Made Award Winning Alaskan Yellow Cedar Flute. Acrylic Black with Maple Totem and Totem Rails.
Hand Made Cabochons
On of my favorite accent to add to a custom flute is a hand crafted cabochon. Personally I like the looks of a bezel set piece as it helps both define the edges of the stone selected as well as helping the cabochon pop off the flute. No two flutes or cabochons are the same and each one is handcrafted individually in our shop right here in Wyoming.
Some of our favorite stones to work with are Picture Jasper, Wyoming Black Jade, Wyoming Harvested Elk Antler, Hand quarried Sacred Catlinite (Pipestone) and other unique stones we come across. These stones can be bezel set in Sterling Silver and then set into the flute or if preferred no bezel at all.
Sacred Pipestone Cabochon with Sterling Silver Bezel
Alaskan Yellow Cedar flute with Sapodilla Totem rails. Bezel Set Pipestone Cabochon, Custom Made Pipestone Mouthpiece and inlayed pipestone band along foot of the flute. Custom made Maple Eagle totem withCommission Black Walnut flute with Leather Accents, Pipestone Bead, Maple Totem and Rails, Bison Leather Accents
These are just some of the images of flutes with cabochons and some of the Cabochons themselves. Accents in addition to the inlaid cabs are hand mades beads, stands and Bison leather accents. Customizing a flute for just you is a very special journey. The satisfaction of owning a one of a kind Jackson Hole Tim Flute, one that plays beautifully and at the same time becomes a beautiful accent piece to your home or office decor is a journey worth taking.
Crafted from hand quarried Sacred Minnesota Catlinite stone (Sacred Pipe Stone). Handmade by Wyoming Artist Timothy N. Jennings. This Wyoming Soul Pendant was crafted from a single piece of Sacred Catlinite Stone.
Like most of our Catlinite jewelry this pendent was crafted from the remnants from one of Tim’s past pipe commissions. Tim never throws any of the stone remnants out and instead re-purposes them into pendants, cabochons, beads and other jewelry items.
Blessed at the Base of the Tetons
The Native American Communities have long considered this stone to be sacred to their people. Used for generations by many of the First Nations People, this hand quarried stone has been used for centuries in the crafting of personal and ceremonial pipes as well as other personal items. This handmade pendant like all of the pipestone Tim receives has been blessed at the base of the Teton Range here in the Yellowstone Basin of Wyoming.
More than a Pendant
The genesis of this piece came while shaping an earlier cabochon that was later bezel set in sterling silver and inlaid into one of Tim’s flute commissions. Tim found himself handling a flattened piece of stone and as he sat contemplating his next step of the project Tim was working on he found himself holding this flatten stone in his hand and rubbing it between his fingers more and more.
“The strange thing was the more I held the stone in my hand the more relaxed I seemed to be. This has happened many times and in fact I had kept this flat stone on my desk and from time to time I would pick it up and rub the stone while thinking about the task before me.”
Artist Timothy N Jennings
The First Nations People have long known that there was power within the stone. It has been demonstrated by the use of this stone for some of their most sacred ceremonial gatherings. As a pipe maker mentored many years ago by an Assiniboine Elder from Montana, Tim learned to respect this unusual stone used by so many for so long. Could there be more to it than just stories past down by many who came before us?
Wyoming Soul Stone Pendent
Tim made the first necklace or pendant for one of his children and since Tim still has his piece of flatten stone on his desk and he still picks it up regularly. Tim created this Wyoming Soul Stone to share with those who might appreciate the power within. When wearing this necklace simply reach up and rub the Soul Stone between your fingers. Feel the power of Mother Earth and accept the Blessings received from one of the most powerful places on earth… The Great Yellowstone Basin and the Teton Range.
The Pendant
The flatten stone is hand set onto a solid sterling silver backing and a sterling silver loop. The necklace is braided leather that features a sterling silver lobster clasp. Each Soul Pendant is handmade and no two are alike. This Soul Pendent is available now for purchase and ready to ship. The more you rub your stone the more the natural patina will shine. And maybe… just maybe some of your worries or inspirations will leave or rise from the ashes within…
Available for Commission – choose the type of necklace for your Soul Pendent. Leather, Silver, Gold… you choose.
I finally decided to add a new page to our website at Jacksonholetim.com which is the “Under Construction” page. I will add new information as it becomes available about new projects I am working on. Some are projects I have selected to complete for myself and when finished these projects will be available for purchase on our site.
Some of the posts will be for commissioned art that I am working on. Recently I had one person tell me that although they were Native American they had never seen a pipe made or pictures of the construction phase – they had only seen the finished product. I hope that many of you will follow the journey of one or more of these new projects. Feedback is always welcome good or bad….
The link for the Under Construction page can be found in both of our menu systems under the “Plains Influenced Art” menu links. Click Here to View Under Construction Page
At a time when “MADE IN THE USA” is practically an anomaly there are still a few small businesses out there trying to create new products and services that can boast the “MADE IN THE USA” title. Wyoming is a state that actually has quite a large number of small entrepreneurs that craft products from their home or small business and sell them to the public both within the borders of Wyoming and abroad. One place that highlights these Wyoming based businesses is the Wyoming Business Council and they list many of these businesses on their website www.wyomingfirst.org.
The Wyoming First Program is a way to identify and showcase great products made in Wyoming. All of the companies listed on this website call Wyoming home and are proud of the quality they represent. Wyoming First provides you with the opportunity to shop and locate products that are made within this state. This post today is no exception. I want to highlight a member of my family that is doing just that – designing and making products for sale right here in Jackson Hole. Blaire joins others here in Jackson that also make and sell their products though retail outlets and their websites.
Blaire Jennings is a college student in her Junior year at CU Boulder in Colorado and she is studying Digital Art, Studio Art and Communications. Blaire has always been a creative soul and she loves painting, shaping pottery, photography, pretty much design of any kind. Over the past year Blaire along with her mother Peyton have created a unique line of hand crafted jewelry all made by hand right here in Jackson Hole. Her latest creation is a line of wooden feather like earrings featuring very high quality sterling silver findings. These whimsical feather like earrings are being marketed under the name “307 Wear” and they are gaining in their popularity with locals and others living outside of the state of Wyoming. “307 Wear” simply translates into “Wyoming Wear” as the area code of 307 is unique to the state of Wyoming. In addition to earrings Blaire is adding some of her necklace designs and currently has many new ideas under development.
What started out as an idea has started to blossom into a small business opportunity for Blaire and she is starting to make some headway. These earrings are truly unique and one of a kind. They are crafted from woods such as Walnut, Maple, Ironwood, Bubinga and other wood species. Each pair is hand crafted and no two pairs are exactly a like. They retail from $39.00 a pair up to $69.00 a pair depending on the wood species and sterling silver findings. If you would like to find out more about these whimsical feather like earrings check out our website at www.tetonmarketing.com and see what Blaire currently has to offer. Blaire is looking for potential retail outlets that may want to carry some of her designs. She especially would like to find retail outlets here in her home state of Wyoming in addition to all other parts of the U.S.A. If you would like more information about 307 Wear than contact Peyton or Blaire at “sales@tetonmarketing.com” .
