A Coffee Adventure…
This past week my wife and I decided to head into the Teton Village area of Jackson Hole. No real agenda, just a gorgeous Sunday afternoon visiting some spots that we had not gone to in a while. For those of you who are not familiar with Teton Village, it is the home of the Jackson Hole Ski Resort which is located on the Northwest bank of the Snake River. If you read some of our Morning Coffee blog posts you will know that we usually will find some place to stop and get a coffee to accompany us on our journey for the day. On this day we actually started from home with coffees we made prior to departure. To be truthful there are not many places open on a Sunday here and even fewer stops to speak of as we made our way into the Jackson area.
Its summer here in the Yellowstone Basin which mean lots of traffic to navigate. Jackson is basically the South entrance to both Teton National Park and Yellowstone Park. We made an immediate dash to the west side of the Snake River making our way to Teton Village. Our plan was to have lunch there and enjoy the beautiful weather that was on tap for this day. But before we made our way to the Village we decided to stop and check out the River Troll that lives on the west bank of the Snake River.
This is a major attraction for both locals and visitors alike. It sits in a beautiful cove just off the main channel of the Snake River. Drawing people from all over the world. The last one Peyton and I hiked to was in Breckenridge Colorado a few summers ago.
This Troll sits on the south side of an unbelievable river side beach/cove where families gather on the weekends to paddle board, swim, barbeque, and just enjoy our summer days waterside. If you visit Jackson Hole for any length of time this is an easy place to find and enjoy. It is a quick stop on the way to Teton Village which is a beautiful place to spend part of a day.
After arriving at the Village we were hungry and selected a restaurant that we actually had not eaten at before. We had lunch at Osteria located in the Hotel Terra. We really liked this place and overall our lunch we very good. We are making plans to come back and have dinner later this summer as I am sure the evening vibe will be really nice.
Back to the coffee… as the day went on I was still looking for my next cup. This time it would manifest itself in the form of a desert. Osteria had Affogato’s on the menu and I just knew it was going to good so I order one. One Affogato please… Peyton chose the Huckleberry and Lemon Olive Oil Creme Brule. Both were just perfect for the occasion and delicious to boot. So we shared our deserts with each other and left with smiles on our face. After lunch is was getting later on the day so after having my coffee fix and Peyton her favorite desert we headed home. Only one stop along the way which was Whole Foods. Not for anything specific we just like snooping for something tasty for later.
