Just finished this little six hole flute tuned to the Key of C# @ 432Hz.  This flute features a small bore of only 1/2″ and has a total overall length of 17″ inches.  It is no more than 1 1/4″ wide at its widest point making this a perfect back packers flute.  Although it is hard to tell from the picture this flute is really quite a bit smaller than most of the flutes I produce.  I did however keep the hole spacing consistent with other flutes I have made.  The bottom three holes are spaced at 1 1/8″ apart and the top three are at 1 1/16″ apart.  The space between the #3 and #4 holes is right at 1 1/4″.

The fetish sits atop the flute on a platform that was completely hand carved giving it a step look.  Black Locust is a very hard domestic wood that is very strong and can take a beating.  Although the flute is finished in a high gloss lacquer this flute could be either a back packers type flute or one that sits in your home or office.  A very nice flute to play with a very bright tone.  I kind of think it sounds kind of like an Irish Penny Whistle.

The fetish is whimsical with no real representation of anything in particular and it is crafted from a left over piece of Cocobolo (I think).  Normally I do not use exotics but rather than throw the piece out I re-purposed it for this flute.  This new fetish design works great as it is simple to align and tie to the flute.  The flute is now receiving its final sandings and final coats of lacquer.  Ships with a protective bag.  I like it…
