Some Shop Additions

New 5 x 7.5 foot Flute Crafting Table

I thought I would share a quick post about a project I started over a week ago.  I have been wanting to build a new table for the shop that would be just right for flute building as well as cutting hides .  I am all of 6-4 and a lot of my height is in my midsection.  So bending over low tables gets old quick.

This table is almost complete as it is sanded and ready for finish and stains.  It measures about 5 feet deep by 7 1/2 feet long and stands counter height.  Casters make it easy to maneuver when needed and the shelf underneath give ample storage of excess lumber and such.  Solid as a rock and will soon feature a new wood vise as well.  This will give the extra surface I need without having to bend over all the time.

New 15 Inch Jet Band Saw

The second addition of late is this new band saw from Jet.  Also on a set of casters this heavy band saw is easy to move around when needed.  This machine will be used mostly for small resaw project and fetish crafting.

Next on the list will be a new helical planer and jointer probably from Powermatic.  Time to replace and upgrade some of my power equipment.

Coming soon is some new lumber that I am trying to acquire out of Colorado.  My favorite stash of urban harvest lumber provides truth old growth trees that were planted around the time of the Oregon Trail when pioneers headed west.  As they age or get crushed by urban sprawl one guy has made it his mission to harvest these valuable trees.  Watch for more posts about what we find.

Finally I have will cutting and offering some new blank designs that will feature end caps.  This has not been my normal path because I do not turn my flutes on a lathe, however some of the flute builders that shop our blanks have ask for them.  Some of the first selected woods should land in my shop any day.  Watch for future post alerts on these new blanks.

As always reach out with questions… I am hear to help!
